Hi,
If you click on the photo I am able to zoom in on the details more.  I believe it is a carving of an old man winter or north wind face.
There doesn't seem to be any markings on the bottom of the chair.    Thanks.....

Hi All,
My great grandmother had this beautiful chair - she immigrated her from Norway and lived in Staten Island, NY. 
I have searched to try to find a similar chair with markings with no luck - does anyone have any ideas?
