Antique Questions Forum / weird stoneware vase markings - help needed
« on: December 27, 2016, 04:08:02 pm »
Hi All

Got this vase today and cannot make out full marks

its an impressed badge type mark, i can read "Member of the" then i cannot read te word underneath

it has at bottom of badge "Founded" then cannot read the rest of that part

it looks potentially like a horse in the middle of the badge as a leg and tail at the right hand side

at the very bottom left it says "82 eed"

Any help needed

Cheers

Hi All
I travelled to New Forest at weekend and popped into a little antique shop and saw this vase straight away
operators of the shop did not know its origins apart from thinking it was Deco so I took a punt on it
Marks on bottom are very hard to see as a crystalish green glaze covered some of it on bottom as you will see, all I can see is "England" and what looks like "No 56 or 66" and maybe Moor or Woor at end of another word but rest is not readable

So what is - can anyone shed some light ? its 10 inches high

Cheers
James

Evening all

I acquired this bowl/planter at weekend, normally I would say its poole or Honiton but cannot find this design anywhere with them 2
also marks on bottom are missing apart from embossed wording so hard to read - bottom I am sure it says England but above it I am not sure
looks like 3 initials in caps like BAP / SAP / DAP or something similar
So I am at a loss I do not know maker
It is handpainted and I would say 30's or 40's due to design
Can you help ?
Cheers
James

Hi
I am no expert on Meissen but I don't believe original Meissen pieces would have 24/150 on it as that sounds more like ltd edition replica
however only my opinion
cheers

yep slight frosting

12
cogar that is not a bad shout - be nice if it was :)

13
yep the more i look at it i agree with you all, there isn't that age feel to the glaze although some pitting
i don't even like it that much but got it very very cheap
so time to shift it on :)

thanks KC - agree it probably is a phoenix, i believe 1930's-1940's due to shape and design especially to wings of bird and stepped metal stand
it is a lovely little bowl fingers crossed the UK market thinks so too lol

Yes Mart i'm in UK unfortunately lol
Thanks KC could be Phoenix
Cheers
James
