Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated.

a simple test..tie a rope to the loop, drop it from a great height..when it lands arse first, if it rolls over...its a water bucket...

...or a crumpled, worthless pile of metal!

Thanks for the info. I might just take a punt on a job lot that I have been offered, works out around £6 ($10) per item, dont think I can go far wrong at these prices.

I,d say this was a small well bucket, the rope is tied to the ring on the hooped handle,..so that when the bucket is dropped,it automatically flops over,..i,ve seen them being made of leather...

The shape certainly matches your picture, the plot thickens!

Guess it isn`t if you bought something from that sale !!  Of course value may have dropped !!

I didnt buy from that sale but that is irrelevant. Comparing prices now with the original offering will give me a bench mark as to its price fluctuation over a decade.

Ive tried both ways and agree with the general consensus on here, better start at the minimum you would accept and hope for the best.

I always believed that generally an item would find its value with such a vast audience but I got stung a few times where I had to let items go for a fraction of their value. I could list a similar item a week later and get ten times as much so that theory doesnt really work! It also soul destroying spending time wrapping items and sending them out when you know you have actually lost money on it... I wont do that again.

I also think that starting an item worth £100 at 99p devalues the item.

Agreed, you will get a lot more watchers and views but very rarely will you get more money, the only advantage is that your listing fees are less but it is a calculated gamble.

Hate to be nosey,, but why would anyone want old auction prices !!

Not sure why that is such an odd request but FYI, I want to compare prices now with original prices to see if they are increasing/decreasing and by what percentage.

Thanks for that Ipcress. I have emailed Nagal but unfortunately they have not come back to me. I have found loads of auction results for Tek Sing but I specifically want the original auction prices in 2000.

It must be out there somewhere!! :)

Hi everyone

I am trying to find reference to the original Tek Sing Cargo Auction in 2000 by Nagel. Does anyone know if a copy of the original hammer prices is available anywhere?

Cheers all

Rob

Hi there everyone

Firstly, congratulations for this great resource site, the subjects covered are amazing and there are obviously some verk knowledgeable peeps on here helping out!

I bought this cauldron? at a local auction a few weeks ago and I would love to find out a bit more about it. The only reference I have found is a similar item that was listed on ebay last year, it was titled 17th century cauldron but I am not sure.

Anyone out there have any further ideas as to its age, usage, value etc?

Thanks a lot, hopefully I will be in a position to advise myself on future topics.
