i think it was pretty clear i meant the item (as in brand and collection) is exactly the same. I can post pics after i polish them, at which time they will not be varnished, if that's what it will take to get help. They are unused, so the condition will be excellent to like-new.

Antique Questions Forum / Ercuis 'Lafayette' 5 piece dinner setting
« on: June 05, 2013, 08:51:03 pm »
Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I received dinner settings made by Ercuis from a parent as a gift. After a bit of searching on the web I was able to confirm that they are the 5 piece dinner setting from this collection: http://www.michaelcfina.com/tableware/flatware/silverplate/ercuis-lafayette-SPERCULAFA.html. I was given six of the five-piece setting, so I was pretty excited when I discovered that this would total over $3000 new.

Otherwise, what I know about the ones I was given is that they were obtained about 50 years ago and are unused but without any original packaging, so they've been sitting around for years and are a bit tarnished. I polished one up, however, and afterwards it looked like new.

Considering I've determined the approximate value of a new setting retail, my question is how much mine could be worth in relation. Does the fact that they are antiques increase the value, or would it lower it? Also, if I were to go about selling these, does anyone know where I should start? Any info is appreciated. I could post pictures if that would be helpful, but they are the exact ones in the link above. Thanks in advance
