Okay so I took off the 3 sides of the covering. So from what I see, I think who ever built it glued it on, the top and the sides were never 'finished'. I haven't taken off the top bcuz of this. Here's a pic:

Okay thank you. I will try it in a little bit. I'll let you all know if it comes up and post a picture or what it looks like.

Thank you all for the info. I'm not sure whats holding it on, maybe some kind of glue? I tried lifting it up on one of the corners, but it won't budge. I have a feeling if I force it off it might tear up the original wood? I've never done anything like this so not too sure.

Thank you all for the information and help. The top wasn't actually replaced, it was just covered. If you look under it and on the back you can still see the original wood. I guess someone may have covered it to make it look nicer? I think it is some kind or laminate. I attached a picture of underneath one of the corners. Thank you all.

My mom bought this little dresser for me in the early 80's (30 years ago). She bought it in Ft. Lauderde, FL at a small antique shop. I have tried looking online but I can't find anything that really matches, the dressers that are closest are called 'doll dressers', meaning baby doll not Barbie dolls.

It's real wood and looks handmade, it has 3 drawers and a small vanity mirror as well. It's 13" high without the mirror and 22 1/2" with the mirror; it's 13" wide with the top lip; and it's 10 1/2" in depth with the lip. There are marks and such on it of course, I was a kid!

So does anyone have any information for me on this piece? I have looked around and called a few antique shops and they have never seen anything like this. Any information would be very helpful, thanks in advance.
