bought this JUNK BOAT on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARVED-CHINESE-ORIENTAL-JUNK-BOAT-ON-PLINTH-Loft-find-/221508094995?nma=true&si=hwbFa3%252BP09MFsbAjpi15fczTimc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I haven't received the item yet, but base on picture, does it look like bone or resin? The seller says he doesn't know, and I have 0 knowledge anyway. For me, it is a nice decoration item, but would be nice to know bit more.

hard to tell. If it is genuine, it is from republic period (1933), so quite close to current style anyway.

Antique Questions Forum / my first islamic item and help needed
« on: May 18, 2014, 02:25:59 pm »
Normally I only buy chinese related things as at least I can guess what is it for.

Today one of ebay sellers I know put an islamic item on and it is not very expensive, so I decided to bid for it.

Do we have some experts in Islamic items? What the mark mean (assume it is not Made in China written in Arabic)?

new. In car boot sales, you can buy one around 1-5 pound.

Saying that, with 1-5 pound, you could buy this kind of things on ebay already.

I think they are much prettier than this one even they are broken. (I am neither the seller nor buyer by the way)
