I'll add some further FX confusion the situation - the set is actually in Ireland ! So it would be priced in Euros ;-D

Perhaps a nice framed picture of the boys there might help sell it to the right buyer then ;-D

I do know that my mother bought it around 1973/74.

In fairness to her, it's been kept really well.  She's constantly bitching at my dad for leaving stuff on it now, and is worried that he'll do some proper damage to it - that is actually her primary reason for wanting to sell it now.

Thanks a million for all the info everyone - it's an amazing world this Antiques game - and great to see such passion.

I've another few items of her's that she wants me to look into aswell so I may be back here after some research on some of them.

Hi All,

So - it's either a real or reproduced Joseph Fritter Extending Mechanism Chippendale Table.

Made somewhere after 1895 onwards

Is there any way to figure out if it's real or not - and does that effect the value ?

Was the valuation of £1200-£1500 also including the 6 chairs ?

Thanks,

Al.

Antique Questions Forum / Late 1800's Mahogany Leaved Dining Table & Chairs
« on: November 12, 2013, 01:04:54 pm »
Hi All,

I'm trying to figure out what exactly this Mahogany Table & Chairs is - and ultimately what it's worth aswell.

The only date markings I can find on it is on the castors for the table - and those date 1895.

The table and the chairs are in absolutely immaculate condition - they've always been covered and protected - even during use !

There are 6 chairs in total, 4 straight back, and 2 carvers with arms.  All chairs have been re-upholstered.

Can anyone help identify exactly what this table and chairs are and from when ?

What sort of value do they have ?

Thanks a million,
