Antique Questions Forum / Androck Spatula
« on: May 01, 2014, 03:28:38 pm »
I picked this up for $0.50 at a local thrift store.  I just thought it was cool, and plan to sell it in my booth.  When I got home I noticed it said, "Androck  made in the U.S.A"  I looked online and found someone selling one exactly like it for $29 and stated hers is from the 1920's.  Just wondering if that sounds about right...

My aunt gave this piece to me.  I am always interested in finding out more information about any piece I aquire.  The history intrigues me.   :)
I photographed the only markings I was able to find.  Yes, the doors are missing... Not sure what happened to them.  ???  My aunt said she had the doors, but they must have been misplaced during her move to a new house. She only found one, and it doesn't even fit, so it must be for something else.

These markings are underneath the drawers.  They drawers are numbered by the marking all the way to the right.

This is on the back:

Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone!  It will be a while before I post some "After" pics.  I only picked it up yesterday and have to fix the frame on the middle mirror, put a drawer together, and have 2 new mirrors cut for it.  Then try to decide how to refinish it.  But I will keep yall updated!  :)

Antique Questions Forum / More info on Vanity
« on: February 21, 2014, 09:35:40 pm »
Hi,
I recently purchased this vanity for $40.  I am planning on refinishing it, but would like to find out more information.  I have been looking online and was thinking 1920s-30s (???)  The screws are all flat head screws, 6 wooden casters, and the backs of the two mirrors still attached have "CENTRAL No. 2-12-22" stamped on the backs.  Tried researching to find out if that was a date, item code, etc. with no luck.  Not sure if Central is the name of a glass company, and not sure if the mirrors are even original to the piece.

I have to be honest, I am in the business of refinishing unwanted items (like things I find on the side of the road or friends & families' attics) with a shabby chic look.  I have always loved old rustic things, but am fairly new to actual antiques and what to look for.  I am very hestitant to throw some paint on this vanity and would like to find out more info so that I may restore it to a more original look.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks! :)
