Antique Questions Forum / Antique palissy platter?
« on: September 13, 2014, 03:59:42 pm »
Dear experts,

Yesterday I bought a platter on the internet as palissy. I have seen a lot of images of these rare (and expensive) plates on the internet, but i'm a little bit in doubt if my plate is as antique as the other plates. The mark (photo 2) is the same as "original" plates, but the back looks different. I think the fish, lizard etc. are well detailed.
Does anyone know more about this type of plate? Do you think it is antique?
Thank you in advance!

Dear experts,

Today I found this iron plate in Belgium. I think it's from a gas cooker due the holes. The figures appeal to me.
There is a devil? in the water who pushes on the bridge, where three goats are jumping...
The size is approximately 60 cm x 45 cm.
Does anyone know more about this?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Mart and Jedo,

Thank you for the information. I also doubt about it, but think it's new (because of the number).

Dear all,

Last week I bought this majolica jardiniere. I can't find a similar piece on the internet in details.
Can anyone tell me if this piece is old, or maybe a reproduction. The underside is painted. The mark is missing, but there is a number.
Thanks in advance!

not too much value sadly, in good condition probable £45...$65? much less as yours is damaged, looks like it still displays well though

i cant read the mark but it seems to be a famille verte crackle glaze vase c1890-1900

Hi Ocky, Yeah it's the verte crackle vase late 19th. I found it now on the internet, thank you ;)! The mark is Chenghua.

In good condition they are worth more I think:

I can't read the mark, it look like SASIN AFFFA, but it can also be a whole different word:)

Dear all,

Does anyone know more about the vase I bought last week. I can't find a similar piece and don't know a lot about Chinese vases, but the paintings are very nice (especially the horses). Hope the photos are good. The vase is broken at the top.

Mat,
Thank you for explain it.
At the back is damage but there is a rag glued on it. I can put it of and then I see the “rough” relief at the back. What you see on the picture (the back of the tile) is the rag. The tiles are also in rleief, as you can see in the fifth and sixth picture. But I know, it is difficult to get it clear on the picture.
I will compare the paintings with internet pictures.

Dear Mat, Do you also doubt because of the hanger or the quality?
I can’t see big differences between my tiles and qajar tiles from the internet... Do you?
The side shows old traces and is discolored.

Dear Mart,
I do not think you can say that it is new based on one hanger.  The hangers are stuck/glued on a rag, what also is stucked/glued on the tile. They are not included in the tile. I got them from a flea market. So the hanger can be made by a person himself.
Thanks for the comment, I can search further. I am convinced that they are older than vintage/new.

Thank you, I find it now on the internet.
They are persians. I found the same thype on ebay. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-PERSIAN-IRAN-ISLAMIC-FALCONER-MOLDED-RELIEF-ART-POTTERY-TILE-MAJOLICA-/301143961142)
I think it is old. I made a picture that shows the 'bubbles'.

Dear all,

I have three tiles and I don't know anything about it.
The tiles are bubbled/uneven and 23 cm x 16 cm (9 inch x 6,5 inch).
They are unmarked I think, there is someting stucked.
Does anyone know more about the age, decor???

Greetings,
Liopleurodon
