"Ipcress".  You're right!  The mark on this stein (or tankard?) does match the other marks I've seen for Zuidema Winschoten.  There doesn't seem to be many pieces available to compare, so I guess I'll just have to use my judgement on price if/when I list it for sale.  Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and everyone else who has posted, as well.

Antique Questions Forum / ANTIQUES IDENTIFICATION - Metal Beer Stein
« on: April 29, 2014, 05:58:07 pm »
Here is an antique metal beer stein in which I'm trying to identify for age and value.  I will be selling this.

First of all, I can't figure out what it's actually made of.  At first, I assumed it was pewter, but after some observation (and weighing), I'm starting to think there's lead mixed in.
The beer stein is 6 1/2" in height (with the lid closed), is 11 3/4" in circumference and has a base of 4" in diameter.  It's "hefty," weighing in at 3 lbs., 2.4 oz.  I could not imagine actually drinking beer from it and having to lift it numerous times, but it would probably be good for my forearm muscles.  lol

Besides three very thin lines encircling the lover portion, the beer stein is void of any decoration.

The stamp on the bottom of the stein has been somewhat...irritati ng, as I have not been able to identify it whatsoever.  As you will see from the photo, the mark is of a flower encircled with lettering, which I can barely make out.  So far...the only positive identification of letters is (I believe) "ZUIDE".

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Sincerely,
"DLady"

PS.  I do have additional photos.  If you're interested in viewing more, please don't hesitate to contact me via Email at "luckylady1863@yahoo.com"

I am interested in selling this gold Agassiz pocket watch, and would love some information as to its approximate age and value.

There are many numbers and letters here and there, so I guess I'll start with the watch itself, and move on.
The movement has "No. 20311" and "Agassiz".
The inside of the watch cover itself, is has the following groups of letters and numbers..."A5182," "N6085," "G619" and "26878".
The inside of the case cover has "Warranted 14k US Assay," "26878" and "135".

The watch is about 1 5/8" in diameter with the case and weighs 2.4 oz.

The watch appears to run, though I have no idea its accuracy in keeping time.  It is in great shape.

I appreciate any and all feedback.  :-)
Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
"DLady"

PS.  I do have additional photos.  If anyone's interested in seeing more, feel free to shoot me an Email.

KC.  Thank you for the information.
I am no good at determining the exact material that these figurines are made of, except that they do have a similar "sound" when handling them, when compared to items I have that I know are bisque.  They are hollow on the inside.

To the public...I appreciate all of your responses thus far, and looking forward to hearing more.  :-)

Thanks, Mart.
I'm a "newbie," so I'm learning as I go.
I do realize that my files are too large, but I need to figure out how to minimize.  :-/

I need help identifying these two antique ceramic figurines.  Through much research, I have yet to find anything that resembles their finish and style to compare.  The only visible marks are of the numbers on the bottoms.  I have searched them over and over, but have seen no artist's marks or manufacturer's stamps.

The girl is 13 5/8" in height and weighs 2 lbs. 12 oz.  The boy is 13 1/2" high and weighs 3 lbs.  Though the boy has had some repair (hand), they both seem to be in pretty good shape considering their probable age.

I ask for help in identification, because I would like to sell them.  I'd love to know the origin, as well as the approximate age.  If anyone has an idea of their value, that would be wonderful too!

I will attempt to add photos.  I do have more.  Should any of you be interested in seeing additional pictures, please don't hesitate to contact me.  :-)

Thanks.

PS.  I'm having trouble loading the pictures in the attachments area, so I'm going to try this method.  Hopefully you'll be able to see them.
