I believe your basket is Chalet. They seem to have made a lot of stuff with berries and the like where the handle connects to the basket.
Here is one without the loop.

Very cool. Vintage holiday decor is very popular right now. They are making reproductions of the cutouts you got! http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Retro-HALLOWEEN-Decorations-Die-Cut-Cutouts-Vintage-Beistle-Reproduction-/141431091854?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20edf3328e

As the bottom is not decorated, perhaps it had a base that was made out of the same material as the handle wrapping. It seems a little too decorative to have been something that would sit on a burner. Does the bottom seem pretty seamless and uniform in material? Just asking cause it almost looks like someone decided to jazz up a funnel and add a round bottom to it javascript:void(0);

Though there are plenty of sanding and grinding bits available, your regular drill is build more for power and does not spin at high enough speed to be an effective grinding tool. You can invest in a rotary tool like a Dremil that will be much more effective. Or if you have an air compressor you can get yourself an air powered die grinder. Nothing like a nice air tool to grind something down.

Thank you and yes she is very very spoiled. I love her but I don't think I could handle 3 of her at once! My coworker found her wondering around a bad neighbor hood in Chicago when she was only 2 months old at most. She is a super sweet snuggly pup.

So on the outside of both metal sleeves are some symbols scratched in. They can not be seen unless you take these things apart so I'm assume they are just for manufacturing purposes. Here are a picture of the symbols I wrote them down as best I could because a good picture isn't possible. The only piece I'm sure of being silver is the lid that comes with the salt cellar. I get that beautiful silver ping when I bounce it on my desk.  Also is a picture of our now 5 month hold husky mix Nola.

When I look at it I picture it being used as a bench for the basketball team in the school gym of a small town. That or someone made it to go with a picnic table or cafeteria seating. Perhaps it was for a school cafeteria and wheeled out after lunch with the tables to make room for other activities.

Howdy folks. Haven't been around in a bit. New puppy and very pregnant wife have kept me busy and away from my antique habit. I happened to "find" an estate sale that was on the way to the hardware store and found this beautiful salt and pepper shaker set or ehh pepper shaker and salt spoon and container thingy :D

They measure about 1 1/2'' tall and 1 1/8'' in diameter. I'm no expert but it seems like the lid to the salt container is solid silver, and everything else is silver plate over maybe copper? The rim on the inside of one shake has a dent and some green coloring near the damage. The center cylinders are very heavy and solid stone. These are very similar to ones that sold on ebay as Chinese silver and Jade. I know it is hard to tell by pictures but any guesses as to age, origin and material?    ??? Thanks!

Those a very similar indeed. Thank you for finding that!

My estate sale find for the day on my lunch brake from work. The figure in the middle has made in Germany Western Zone on the base. The other two say Made Czechoslovakia in a circle. The funny part is reading from right to left they say Made aikavolsohcezC or if you Start at Czechoslovakia and read left made is backwards. Anyway the Germany western zone makes one at least mid to late 1940s. They are wooden pieces jointed together with elastic string. They are about 5 inches tall and the bases are about 2 1/4'' in diameter. What would you call these? Figures? puppets? is there a special name for these guys? I can't imagine many remain intact over the year if played with.

This pattern was manufactured between 1946 - 1959. As for value, it isn't crazy. You can see some have sold on ebay. Sold separately they are going anywhere from a couple dollars to $10 a piece however there are plenty up for sale at the moment and not a lot sold recently so there is not a very large demand for it.
