Antique Questions Forum / Thai Buddha mystery
« on: August 23, 2015, 12:12:01 pm »
This is a 6" statue of a Thai Buddha. My boss inherited it from his mother who owned an antique store. We are located in Pittsburgh Pa. The statue is made from wood. It is damaged on the top and front. The gold and red paint have worn away in many places. It looks very old. Could anyone tell me anything about this item? I know its a long shot but anything could help. Thanks in advance!

Antique Questions Forum / Need help to identify female bust

This is a 16" marble bust. My boss inherited it from his mother who owned an antique store. I think its made from alabaster. It looks like its been hacked at a little on the sides and has been cracked in two at some point. We are located in Pittsburgh Pa. There is a metal rod holding the top piece to the bottom. Could anyone tell me anything about this item? I see no signatures on the piece so I don't know the maker or items origin. I'm not even sure of the material. Anything could help. Thanks in advance!

Antique Questions Forum / Need help identifying Quan Yin Statue
« on: August 23, 2015, 11:18:05 am »
This is a 10" statue of Quan Yin. My boss inherited it from his mother who owned an antique store. I think its made from some kind of resin. It looks rough and damaged in some places. We are located in Pittsburgh Pa. It seems to have come with the wooden base it is sitting on because the holes coincide but I'm not 100% certain. Could anyone tell me anything about this item? I see no signatures on the piece so I don't know the maker or items origin. I'm not even sure of the material. Anything could help. Thanks in advance!

« on: February 08, 2015, 11:40:47 am »
Can anyone give me ANY information about this statue? I believe it is of Guan Yin. It looks to be made of resin or clay. No markings. It has a wood base. I have spent hours of time searching but the hits for oriental statue or Guan Yin statue are staggering. Thanks for any help! - Melanie

Antique Questions Forum / Please help identifying this lion chair.
« on: December 07, 2014, 11:14:40 am »
Can anyone please help me identify this chair or the marking on the bottom. The chair stands 10.5 inches tall with small lions carved into it. It appears to say Yla Pa but it could be Vla ta or even Tlafa or a different combination of those letters. It is numbered 89. Also curious if this item came as a set with some kind of figure. I've tried looking up the marking at the bottom in various ways but cant find any leads. Any information on this chair would be appriciated. Thanks!
