the drawing is in either a heavy pencil or charcoal

i am from the UK and the date near the signature is 1913

again i hope you can help

also found this within the things in my grandads things this was with my great grandads things

looked online an the only thing i can find is

Lawrence Deller
M, #6350, b. 4 February 1889, d. 18 November 1918

Lawrence Deller was a professional artist, and for religious reasons a conscientious objector. The reaction to conscientious objectors by the tribunals set up to vet their claims was not consistent, and was sometimes very hostile.

i tried it didn't bring it out any will try slightly cleaning the wood with a ear bud and a bit of water

in the wood on the frame this is whats in the wood

ive just found this on http://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/daniel-h.-winder-1870-c.-1920-,-oil-on-board,-5-1292-c-68ed954c3a that looks very similar to the way he did his initials on the one ive got what do people think

thank you all for the insight tried to find other examples of a signature which i couldnt

were is the best place to take it to get it looked at and do you think its worth getting it restored and cleaned the paint itself is in good condition just years of dust and dirt

The reason it's 2 shades was when I put it through Photoshop it is dirty and in need of a clean it's a beautiful painting so am going to get it done professionally then get it reframed
