I will try KC to get some wax and show you the inprint. Probably next week now.
Wilhenri, we have had it tested with the metal testing gun as 18ct gold but there is no hallmark. I guess it was made before hallmarks or for some reason it just wasn't hallmarked. It does have a couple of marks on the inside but I can't decipher them it doesn't look like a hallmark though.

Thank you Wilhenri. It is something that we really love and that's a good idea I think we will use it. We won't be selling it any time soon, unless desperate or we get a stupidly amazing offer!!  Our plan next is to try and find out the age of it but we don't know where to start , hopefully someone here might have some ideas.

Hello KC and Wilhenri.
Thank you so much for your kind messages. The ring is full solid gold, no stone or insets, sorry I think that's the way it looks with a shadow on the picture. I have added another one with a side view, I hope this helps.
It was something that my husband found at a boot sale about 10 years ago.

Happy Saturday everyone.
Would you know how I find out the origin of this seal ring, I am interested in finding out the year, who the seal would have belonged to and anything else about it. It's very heavy 41gramms of 18ct gold and the ring size is M.
Thank you x

Hi, the mark is Qianlong, but the painting looks like 20th century to me.
Mat

Thank you mat I appreciate your knowledge and help. Does this mean then the pieces that I have that are 20th century are of low or no value then? I am not in this to sell them to make millions or anything like that, just to know if anything in my collection is worth a bit and therefore needing insuring and is worth keeping hold of to maybe sell in the future so I don't get ripped off.
Thanks x

Antique Questions Forum / Re: Bronze Oriental lanterns
« on: February 16, 2015, 01:28:19 pm »
Hi KC
I know they are so amazing and detailed. There is Chinese writing on the actual lantern bit but I have no idea what it says. They are the only markings that I can see really.
I will take another picture in the daylight (tomorrow) and add it on here so you can see the writing.

Hello all
Thank you all so much for your advice and help. So the general thoughts are that it's 1970's?? I would have thought it was older than that as it has a lot df wear to the base.
Thanks though for your advice

Hello.
Can anyone please shed any light or any information on this beautiful pot? When we got it it was full of smoke as it came from a lady who smoked a lot indoors but we cleaned it up and it revealed this beautiful design. We have no idea what the stamp mark is or any dates so anything you can help with will be appreciated. We have had it for about 10 years and the elderly lady said it came from her father.
Thank you xx
