Just give them a mild "scrubbng" via use of Murphy's Oil Soap ..... and then a coat of "paste wax" followed by a "shining" via use of an old cotton T-shirt.

Okay I will try that. Thank you.  I do like them, they have been in my family forever. Just for fun, are they worth any money? Do you know about when they would have been made?  Also, where do you buy paste wax?

Can you turn it upside down and let me see the bottom !!  Was it stenciled or is the paint just a decorative addition ??  Its a nice tiger oak seat, do not usually see them painted !!

I believe they are hand painted.  I can't seem to upload the other picture here is a dropbox link to it in my folder.  My mom got these chairs as antiques in the 60's

Hello. I don't know anything about antiques. I have these old chairs that have been in my family for a while. I'm wondering if they're worth anything. I was told I can't refinish them because they have the original paint. Is that true? Are they worth anything? Thank you.
