Antique Questions Forum / 1930's radio
« on: November 22, 2024, 12:53:08 pm »
Just for show.
I already have the 411 on this.
 ;D

Spartan radio receiver, circa 1930.
Model 931
39.5"H x 13"D x 24"H
Weighs 60+ pounds.
This model sold for $169.00 in 1930.
That's over $3000.00 in today's money.
All original wiring, tubes, and dust.
With foliate decoration to the pair of doors and each with roundel carved pulls. Canted corners with leaf scroll surmounts the turned and reeded legs joined by a turned H shaped stretcher.
The cabinet is in very good condition with normal wear.

Antique Questions Forum / Humidor
« on: November 16, 2024, 02:30:06 pm »
I have a small humidor that was probably my grandfather's cousin's.
I'm thinking 1940s-ish.
It is 27"H x 14"W x 11.5"D
The bottom cabinet is copper lined.
Any thoughts?
I'd love to keep it, but if it's worth something...

Antique Questions Forum / ornate vase
« on: May 13, 2024, 11:12:52 am »
Hello friends.
I have this vase that is probably from the 40's or 50's.
I didn't post a "bottoms up" because that are no markings whatsoever.
It is 12"high and 6.5" wide.
I'm hoping somebody can give me an approximate value on this.
Thanks!!!

No markings at all.
I wasn't clear.
It was found in their house when they bought it in 1939.
We have no idea who carved it or when.

This was found in my great-grandparents house in 1939.
It's close to 100 years old, I guess.
It's 36" long.
It has some kind of leaf design with a snake curling around it.
No idea if a price could be put on it.
Whatever anybody is willing to pay, I suppose.

I don't know anything about Wedgwood to guess the mark says on the back.
I'm assuming it's a style number or something.
It measures 11" x 9" with about a half inch depression in the center.

Good luck on the sale and them digging!  HAHA

You have always had good posts, questions and answers on here.  In addition, you have same name as a very good friend.

Thanks. haha
I have a friend who says he will dig it out for me.
I lost my brother to cancer 1.5 years ago.
That's why I kinda disappeared for awhile.

and I didn't know Leslie Caron was a member here!!

Glad to be back!!
It did have a plate on it at one time, but that's gone.
I don't remember what it said.
If I do find a buyer, they'll have to dig it out of the ground.
hahaha

and how in the world did you remember my name??
 ;)

This bench is from the early 1900's.
I'm the 5th or 6th generation owning it.
It needs to be sand blasted and repainted
There's one identical to it at the White House.
Any idea at all what it might be worth as is?

Antique Questions Forum / Art Deco planter?
« on: April 26, 2023, 11:48:10 am »
Hi.
I posted this a few years ago, but now I can't find it in my archives.
This planter (pot?) is from the 1930's, I think.
It is 4.5" tall x 5" wide on top.
No visible mark on bottom.
It is in perfect condition.
Any idea what this might be worth?
Thank you in advance.

Do any of you buy antiques on eBay or etsy and resell at a profit?

I remember the case of a woman who placed an to sell a Porsche for $50. A man called and said he would buy it. After he paid the $50 and got the Title, he asked why she sold such an expensive car that cheap. She said it belonged to her husband and their divorce just became final …… and her husband called and told her to sell his car and send him the money. ;D ;D ;D

BURN!!

My mother's aunt had been using this as a water bowl for her cat and mini Schnauzer at the family summer home.
I knew it was fairly old, and when nobody else wanted it (when the property was sold) I grabbed it.
My brother scrubbed out the lime and calcium build up inside and VIOLA!!
Perfect condition.

Here's what I was told at the Red Wing web site....
Red Wing Sponge band Casserole.  Without lid, the value is around $150 if in perfect condition.  The Sponge band stoneware was introduced in the late 1920's by the Red Wing Stoneware Company.

a dog dish
pffft

Hello!!!
I went online to see if I could find a lid for this, so I could sell it at a higher price.
No luck, but I did find several of these with a cracked lid that I thought were under priced.
