Antique Questions Forum / Acanthus Candle holders, #529 - when made, markings
« on: December 01, 2018, 11:02:33 pm »
I recently purchased the Red Wing flower frog that is a cream/brown colored deer (gazelle?} with a matching platter. It is usually displayed with two candle holders that are the cream and brown acanthus #529. I have looked at them on various sites and have seen them with different markings on the bottom and different price points. The markings that I have seen are "Red Wing", or "529", or some sort of illegible marking. When I figure out how to get pictures off the auction sites to load here I will do so. My questions are:
When were these candle holders made? Are they vintage or recently made? What should the correct markings be on the bottom? What should the price range be for a pair of them? I've seen them from $9.99 to $35.00.
Also, please let me know where or how I could have researched this information for my self. What would be the best Red Wing book for the decorative items they made?
Thank you in advance, Judi Allen
