I have a very similar watch on my wrist today. Since I repair these watches and have genuine antique watch band parts I can explain the watch. It was a pocket watch and as women made the transition from pocket (necklace) watches to wristwatches loops were added to the 9 o'clock side and attachments were added to have a ribbon band. I love my watch. Wear your's with care, they are not shock proof and are not water resistant like today's watchs. Susan
