Antique Questions Forum / Very unusual hat pins!

My father gave me these and I have looked and looked and can't find any info about them. They are 10 inch abalone hat pins. The unusual part is that the box they are in reads: COMPLIMENTS OF GENERAL COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT, FORTY-SIXTH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT, G.A.P., LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA, SEPT. 9TH TO 14TH, 1912. CALIFORNIA ABOLONE PEARL HAT PIN. Does anyone know anything about these? PLEASE let me know. Thanks
