When I was a kid and we went to our summer cottage, we had something very similar to this and we cooked food in an open fire with it, when the ring pulled down it opened, right? Also something is also telling me that people use to put hot coals or wood in it to keep water hot in a pale..
Hope I shed some light on it.

 ??? ??? HELP HELP, can't locate this pattern or mark on bottom, description is as follows: Center of plate, shiny smooth white, outline in cream color but with a matte finish, then 1/2" around border of plate, 5 petal blue flower followed by 3 leaves, followed by 3 petal blue flower, followed by leaves then 3 pink roses encased in gold. The pattern then starts again. The pattern has a tiny gold border under and above the pattern along the rim. GOSH
It has a green outline of a flower as the mark on the bottom (I thought a Hibiscus), with three little leaves coming out from it. And its say 'Made in Japan',  ??? ??? ???  Can't find anything on the internet.  Help me search,
