Antique Questions Forum / 52 yr old dragon china, history/value??
« on: June 16, 2008, 05:46:29 pm »
My grandmother passed away and left to me a beautiful china tea set she received 52 yrs ago as a wedding gift. It is in mint condition, never been used or even out of its gift box (not original box) It is a dragon theme and has 6 cups, creamer, tea pot, sugar bowl, 6 plates the cups sit on and 6 larger plates. I want to stress that he dragon on each individual piece is actually raised from the glass, not just painted on the glass. The entire top of the tea pot is an asian dragon, the spout, lid etc.
All pieces are stamped with blue and say "Foreign" on the bottom.
I cant find any information on any of it, and I cant seem to find anything that looks like it either. It looks more Japanese than Chinese to me?? Any help would be appreciated..I'm having a lot of trouble finding info on the mark 'foreign' whether its chinese or japanese..or something entirely different.
Any links or points in the right direction are also appreciated. Thanks so much
