Antique Questions Forum / Re: small lead winter figures

Thanks D&B...I guess most of things are only worth more $$$ if someone is hunting for them...that must be why e-bay is such a success...but I really don't want to get into posting on e-bay..it sure does look like it can be a full time job.  Would do it if I was home all the time and could keep track of what is online....
cheers ;->Carlotta

i set these up for Christmas every year since we have them.  They belonged to my husbands parents.  I am pretty sure they are lead, as they are a bit heavy..I hope you can see them clearly in my winter skating pond!  Any idea of the value? Carlotta

Antique Questions Forum / Re: old Mandolin - value

HI Skinny,...well I checked it out on an antique musical instrument web site...Not worth more than $100.00 and they said the repair could cost as much.  So now I know more about it, and I too think it is a beautiful piece of woodworking.  Learned something about the strings as well.  Needs lighter strings (old), the newer ones are too hard and may have caused the crack..I do remember a friend doing something with the strings about 20 years ago, he may have put new strings on it.. for it it looks good and sounds good for fooling around with the sounds.. cheers, Carlotta 8)

tHANKS, I have looked on their website, and wrote them with a picture...
It really is interesting to see where the things I have had around since I was a child, come from..
I am getting more and more interested and surprised at how many things we accumulate in our lives...Carlotta

D&B...thanks for that info.  I could not find anything about them..now I may just go look something up...I like using them on Eastrer morning, with a yellow table cloth, and a purple glass bowl that is also as old as the plates.  The colours looks so spring like together, especially with painted eggs!
Oh..now snow snow snow..thanks again, Carlotta

hello D&B,,,I would not be too surprised.  As I have stuff I found in basement of a house I rented years ago..things the owners just were going to throw out!  I also can't throw things out..and my son has anything a film collector may want..old reels etc. he has a film lab..that in itself is almost an antique!
