Look like Civil War era mini ball bullets,,grooves assisted in accuracy,,any chance they are just corroded lead?

Something like this complete rig

Its part of a heavy duty jack for tractors and such, you are missing the upright post with notches and the base,,,at least thats my best shot at it

Could it be the top or bottom of a pillar or headboard type fixture or furniture looks to be made decorative and functional,,,perhaps to raise something to a higher level

We build custom boxes for the old style brass mailboxes from post offices to make piggy banks out of them, they are combination and sell like crazy at shows

Perhaps listing the program would help people feel like contributing, otherwise it seems like you are trolling and fishing for purchases.

Hello you guys,

Not my normal thing but trying to get girlfriend to take interest in estate sales and collecting and she found this vase this weekend, Nice glaze to it and a single line of gold around bottom edge, has a Japanese chop seal with Japan underneath.  Any ideas as to what it means and value,,hoping to get her fired up to go digging!

Thanks

Looks like one of those items a blacksmith would use, arm moves a bellows and blows through the coals?

Ive been a fan of Japanese swords for twenty years, started out with militaria and then began specializing in Japanese blades.  You have an 1700's or so era tsuba, hard to tell if for a long sword (katana) or short sword (wakizashi)  either way fairly collectible, there are several schools of artists who made them and some are signed next to opening in the guard where blade slides in.  Neat item.  The hole on the side is for the hilt of the utility knife or tool to stick through when it is in its scabbard, sometimes a small knife or other tools

I think from photos available its both and antique and a decorative/ceremonial item, not intended for use as a weapon.  A great heirloom!

Good info here, not much to add except an in hands inspection by an accredited appraiser or auction house would help. Nice family heirloom, Blue Book is just a guide or tool to use in conjunction with actual show experience or auction results.  Here is an example with a buy it now option of $200 currently at $140

Looks to me like a modified Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife. Handle changed out over time.

Top cloth eagle is Army breast eagle off uniform, the other is Luftwaffe (air force)  the black medal is a very hard to find black wound badge, most were just stamped out this one is hollowed out, neat.  The cord is from a roll of piping that would have been sewn around edges of shoulderboards on uniforms, this one denotes police I believe

I agree with Tales,,decorative "wall hanger" display item, appears the hilt is even curved a bit.  Probably a souvenir type item.
