I would stick with the plumb bob idea...but there aren't any holes or way to suspend.  Monument is a tool company that has been around for a very, very long time and does make plumb bobs.  (One of my grandfather's was a carpenter and had lots of tools marked Monument.)

Ideas?

Thats really interesting about Monument tools!

How about early tops type toys,,,is there a groove for wrapping a string around and spinning when you pull the string?  Plumb bobs?

There's a groove on one of the "medium" ones, but just on the one. I kind of thought it was a spinning top toy but after countless atempts to make it spin and not fall over, I kinda gave up on that idea. lol

Okay so I found this thing in my attic, not sure what it is. I don't know if its an antique anything I just want to know what it is because its been bothering me(I'm a little OCD sometimes). Anyways its this little doodad, there was about four of them of different sizes small to big. Are they just decorative or did they serve a purpose. There seems to be wear on the bottoms, so perhaps they were more then a decoration? Anyways i'm stumped! Ideas welcome!

Theres also a stamp on the side its kind of faded and says monument, theres a picture of it. :)
