Antique Questions Forum / Re: Can someone help me date this painting
« on: February 27, 2019, 12:41:15 pm »
Hi Icedgold10.......

Assuming the painting is oil on stretched canvas.  You can try looking for the watermark on canvas ®.  The old holding the painting over bright light (sunlight if possible) trick.  With a good angle you should see watermark and search date from that.  Good luck!

Thanks Mart/KC.....I believe we have a winner.....After searching as you suggested Mart for English hobnail, I found similar with Westmoreland Glass!
Way to go!  Thanks again, I always learn so much from you guys. :)

Hi KC...

Thank you for your reply.  Maybe the image in photos look like little bumps, but they are actually deep cut diamond shapes.  I thought hobnail glass would be like little balls (bumps)? I appreciate your observation.

Happy New Year Everyone....

I am soliciting your help to identify the culture of the embroidery characters.  This is a vintage framed embroidery I acquired at a thrift shop several years ago.  I did little research on it because I got stuck on trying to identify the culture.  Design measuring approximately 11 1/2" X 2 1/2".  Any help would be greatly appreciated, so I can pickup on my research.  Thanks in advance.

Best wishes for the 2019 New Year !

SophieMarie...Sorry for the late reply, I've been offline for a few days.  Yes, it looks like it would be a FB Rogers Italy Glass Carafe ,from your links provided it is the same as the ones pictured in auctions..  Thanks again for your great detective work.  ;D ;D ;D

Hey Mart...no maker mark found or mentioned just exact design as the one I have.

Thanks KC...Yes it is in need of a good cleaning.  One of the reason I was not sure if it was silver or pewter, but underneath the lid shows traces of silver contents.

Eureka!!...Thanks Sophie Mae..The Esty's listing is same maker as this one.  Thanks

Antique Questions Forum / Tall Glass/Crystal Container with Metal Lid
« on: July 19, 2018, 06:11:11 pm »
Hi guys,

I have no idea how to start researching.  Does any one know it's usage?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  It measures approximately 13" tall and about 6 " at it's widest point.  There is a plastic slender container with lid inside, I assume that ice can be place in container to chill beverage??  Heavy silver/pewter screw on lid with spout, also the glass feels like lead crystal.  No visible markings.   Pictures below.
