Identifying two antique unmarked cups and a saucer.
« on: November 26, 2011, 02:52:58 pm »
Hello

Do you have any guess about each of the following cups and saucer?

the one with a matching saucer is un marked. The other, with a scenery has a worn and illegible mark.

What do you think is the age -and the interest- of each?

Thanks

Very hard to say anything about the second item, perhaps it's worth posting a photgraph of the 'illegible' mark and a close up of one of the patterns. You can use the macro setting on your camera / phone and zoom and you should get a pretty sharp image of detail. A wild guess going by the scene on the first picture's cup is delftware, Holland, try and identify the type of windmill in scene perhaps it will give a clue to country, and also the inner rim has certain flora / wreaths on it, maybe another clue to country at least.basically you should research blue and white ware as a generic starting point.

I have tried to get a picture of the marks but I canīt read them. However thank you very much for your very useful insight. Certainly, it is a Delft type cup.
