a VERY old water bucket... but how old?
« on: December 16, 2011, 05:19:16 pm »
Hi folks!! came across this today and had to have it. The description simply stated Very old bucket. I think its a water/well bucket but not sure. It looks to be mid 19th century or earlier to me ( little clues like the forge welded ring in pic 3 ) but I wanted to show you guys and see what you thought.. paid $60 for it so Im hopin I did ok. Ive seen similar on ebay and they're asking around $300 but I didnt know if that was a realistic price or if mine was newer or older. Thanks for lookin!  ;D

Your bucket is Chinese, and I would say over 100 years old. These are very popular and a lot are being imported here. I have five of them in different styles. None of mine are quite like yours, but here is one very much like yours dated at 1840. $60 is a fair price

They are useful too! I use mine for storing DVD's and fuel for the pellet stove.
