You know,, not knowing what it is may work to your advantage if you are going to put it on ebay !!  That is how I would list it !! " Its for sale but havent a clue what it is" or something similar would probably get more views that putting the name of it would !!  People have a natural curiosity and will click on it just to see what it looks like !!  Someone out there may know and tell you what it is or may have a use for it without knowing its identity !!

I was going to put it under the Antique section on Craigslist, and hope an antique enthusiast would snag it. But I wanted to be able to label what it is!

Rather then just: "well, here's an... old wood- thing. FOR SALE!"  ;)
