Silver Bracelet help
« on: February 19, 2012, 10:28:43 am »
Hi all
Finally a topic I have found some info about
It is 1949, but sadly it`s missing its clasp would it be better for scrap or for sale for a collector/repairer?
Its a beautiful bracelet, I bought it for 15 Gbp, to save it from the scrap and I`m hoping to find a home for it  :)
It also has a stamp on it made in England and HARMONY (third image down is upside down)
Any values to it?

Thanks mart for pointing that out Sorry if the third is upside down I can`t get a good picture of the hallmarks, but you don`t really need them.

Beautiful bracelet do not scrap!!!! worth repairing  would need to research for value and would need clear close ups of all marks.

I know they`re too small my camera is a large compact and can`t get close enough to the hallmarks because of the chain.
The hallmarks are an anchor, the Birmingham lion, and a Z all indicating 1949 Birmingham.
To the left of these is the makers mark it reads W&CO the O underlined
As you can see there is HARMONY and one the other part of the bracelet Made in England,Z and the lion.
That is all that is stamped on it.
I will try again tomorrow to get better pictures of the hallmarks but they`re the best I can get and all the info about them is above.
I`m going to try this man more often to see if he has more "scrap" silver. He had 60GBP in silver I chose this because I didn`t have enough money for anything else.
Thanks.

1----\   /-----1
1W&  --  CO 1
1----/   \-----1

Thats what the hallmark is shaped like only the 1`s are edges and the - join and the middle part is thicker, its kind of shaped like a sand timer.
Hope the helps
