The technique for your painting is called "impasto" which in simple terms means "thick paint" !! Many different ways this technique is used !! You said it was on a paper ground ?? Then it is likely acrylic since most oils would bleed through the paper and around the area you may be working on so I don`t think it is oil unless the paper was pretreated with a barrier !! I like the work and its interesting but I don`t think the person is a listed artist,, more likely a local person and hobbyist. Rarely does an artist that is painting for a living use initials !! They want instant name recognition !! When you look at their art, they want you to remember the name !! Kind of hard to go to a gallery and say,, I want to buy one of MLC`s paintings !! Gallery owner says,, Who
? Get my meaning ?? If I were you I would start looking at artists in your local yellow pages and those in surrounding areas !! Also take the painting to local galleries and see if they recognize the style !!
