« on: March 18, 2012, 03:00:54 pm »
Hi there. I can't seem to find this color ball and claw jar anywhere. Also, is it an original or repro? Its 3.25 inches tall

Does it say anything on the bottom? It looks a lot like a Wheaton repro.

Wow, I've never seen a ball and claw bottle before! I do agree that it looks like a repro and doesn't show much age. Especially with that "Made in..." I'll see if I can find anything though.

I also think its Wheatons miniatures !!  It was made in 5 colors, yours is amythist was also made in avocado green, blue, amber and cobalt !!  Bitters were liquors and also used as medicine !! They were made in larger sizes originally !!

I have sold a few ball and claw bottles this size but they were red. The small ones like the one have are all considered reproductions. I will have to search back through my pictures but I dont remember mine saying made in. Where does it say it was made in? I think I only got about $5 a piece for them.

Well, Depends on what you consider old !!  They have been made since the late 70`s that I know of !!  There was a big antique craze going on and these were made and sold at small Dime stores just for people to buy and sit in windows !! Craft people were taking bottles and filling them with colored water as a decorating item in windows so when the sun hit them it kind of gave a stained glass effect !! These were made in colors so no water needed !! I used to have a bunch of them !!

Yep I'm 19 so they're definitely old to me. And 20 years old or more is vintage by Etsy's standards so thats all that matters!
