Lamp Fixtures
« on: April 01, 2012, 01:07:25 pm »
Well I got permission from the park that owned my dad's home, that I could have the light fixtures and the lightening rods. I have them all. I haven't processed the lightening rods, other than selling the copper for about 40 dollars. BUT, the lamps, there are 16 in all, and I believe from the pictures I will post on the thread at: http://www.bdtcomp.com/harry_thomas/wolcott_home/

One of the glass globes is broken. And one of the six lamp shades was used by my uncle as a pin cushin. My cousin said to throw that one away, but I kept it, if not for a laugh, but I thought that my uncle made good use of the shade, as there are hundreds of holes and there were two needles still in there. He lived and slept in that room for 50 years!

One chandelier, and I have found nothing on it, no name anywhere. But the lamps look like they could be worth perhaps 400 dollars a pair, though these have some wear. Here is the link to the living room lamps of which I have 7.

The upstairs bedroom lights and I have three are the same as these: http://www.thepreservationstation.com/lighting-html/antique-lighting/antique-lighting-by-maker/markel-electric-products/delightful-pair-of-antique-sconces-markel-electric-products.html

The living room sconces I have seven of are the same as these: http://www.vintagelights.com/product/2/15-total-1920s-dogshead-single-bulb-antique-lighting-wall-sconce-fixtures-priced-per-pair.html

I have a very interested party, in Illinois, but we told them they could be expensive, and they said that is okay. My wife and I thought perhaps 2500, or maybe 2800 for everything. But that may be too high! Don't know. I am hoping to find links to the other two sconce types.

I wish I could identify the chandelier, but couldn't find writing on it. We connected all the crystals, with a handful left over!

The hanging fixtures with prisms are in the Art Nouveau style and look like late 20`s or 30`s !! Metal looks like a thin type and similar to many fixtures that were mass produced in faux bronze !! As far as price, I would guess between $60. and $75. !!  Rest are mostly Art Nouveau or Victorian from about the same period !! Those frosted glass globes are easy to find and are still being reproduced !! You can probably find reproductions of the fabric shades as well. Price wise on the sconces that I saw ( computer wouldn`t download all the pics) Around $20. to $30. each in my area !! Your area could be more !!
Forgot to say,, loved the pics !! Very nostalgic and tells of the "good" ?? old days !! Although my good old days were in the 50`s !!

Thanks Mart,

Well I think the chandelier price sounds about right, it is thin metal. On the sonces, not sure of the ones with the white-yellowish enamel, but the two bronze ones, and I haven't found them yet appear to be worth more.

But the seven I have in the living room are these that this site is selling for 425 dollars a pair, http://www.vintagelights.com/product/2/15-total-1920s-dogshead-single-bulb-antique-lighting-wall-sconce-fixtures-priced-per-pair.html

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-mission-style-matching-cast-iron-wall

Now the first link says Virden stamped on it and the second says VRD 1930 TC VIRDEN CO., B41

Mine has B41 on the back, but I don't see Virden on it?

The other sconces probably aren't worth as much, but the seven living room ones appear to be quite valuable!
