Need help identifying this urn
« on: May 16, 2012, 02:42:27 am »
Hi all,

I have been trying to find out about this urn (i think it's an urn of type but not sure).
I can't seem to find anything under the makers mark 'Royal Elysian Ware K&Co..E England'
It stands about 18 inches tall from what i remember and the picture quality is not good as it was taken very quickly at night! Sorry about that. I will be getting full measurements and more pictures on Friday if that will help?
Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There was a K & Co B until the 1930's.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

I was wondering if it was a misprint and the E is actually a B?

Sorry, it would have helped if I'd included the link to the teapot I was talking about!

Sorry but the link you gave is only by the same maker not the same item !! This appears to be a decorative urn only or could possibly be a lamp base !!  Is there a hole in the bottom ??  18 inches would be about right for a lamp !! If not then its just decorative !!

I'm no expert on Porcelain, but it has the look of one of the Worcester factories to me.
The artwork judging by the last image appears to be hand painted as opposed to transfer printed, which is always a good sign of being better quality than mass produced.

If you get no joy here, it won't hurt to ping an email at these chaps.

Dam, I should have emailed them your images and then made you an offer on it based on what they said.

Thanks for your replies. Any Keeling & Co items i have seen while searching have not had any similarities to this piece which is really puzzling. A friend mentioned Worcester a few days ago but even trawling through thousands of images i still can't find anything that looks like this. I really have a bee in my bonnet about this as i have managed to find information about every other piece i was researching but not this one! Even the most mundane pieces i was searching came up with the info i was looking for even if they were worth nothing. It seems this one is withholding it's secrets and is driving me nuts!
