antique sewing machine in wooden cabinet, PFAFF

This case is beautiful. What wood to you think it is? It looks like the knots of the wood. I want to look uo the serial numbers. It's in great shape.

Pfaff is an excellent, well-made machine. Looks great. One of my handcranks is a Pfaff and it sews like a dream. check down inside the bobbin compartment for that bullet shaped "shuttle" that the bobbin goes inside. Then look inside that for a spindle bobbin. If you have those and the belt is there, you're probably good to go. If you are missing them, you can get them on Ebay. There is no problem getting parts.

Looks like you have a 1954.  Remember this would have been post-WWII Germany, which is probably why it has a treadle. (that's my guess) It's a wonderful old machine and will probably sew for several lifetimes. I'm not sure if you will have an old style spindle bobbin or a round modern bobbin in this one. It could go either way. Great find GA!

Thanks! Everything is there except the belt is broken. I saw one on ebay for $7.99. The case is beautiful. It has a little pin cushion on the door and a hidden button to open it. The wood is in great shape too! I don't think they had any idea. the sewing machine was there. This second house is so small. We were wondering if it was maids quarters.

It looks like the case is made of walnuit with bookmatched burl. As you so accurately observed, burl comes from the knots of a tree, sliced thin.

What would put the value you at? I have two sewing machines already.
