Maybe KC's right: it was constructed for a specific use, perhaps neither bedwarming or cooking.

No KC, it doesn't look like there was any  lid on it, there are no marks of it being used at all, I think maybe Coger might be right.
Still wonder if its old or new, no telling I guess.  :(

I can say for sure it has caused some pondering and is a conversation piece!  :)
