Re: Karpen wicker furniture
Hello, I'm new on this site. I have my grandmother's wicker settee or small sofa and one wicker rocker (there were originally two rockers). The rocker has the original Karpen tag - "Karpen Construction, Chicago, Michigan, New York.)
I believe the original color was a forest green, but it has since been painted white. I appears to be a paper or rope woven type wicker. Very sturdy and in excellent shape. The rocker is large and comfy, has original springs, and has a diamond woven into the back. The back is solid wicker -- no openings. The settee has open wicker weaving but a close weave along the top and down into the arms. Rolled over along the top and arms. There are no cushions or springs on the settee -- just metal slats running across the seat to hold cushions. I can tell there used to be a cloth type fabric covering those slats. The cloth fabric is still on the wicker rocker.
Can anyone give me an idea as to age, value, etc? Thanks so much.
