Vintage Etain Pewter Plate Rim/Holder & Porcelain Plate?
« on: August 21, 2012, 09:36:04 pm »
This is a Pewter Etain Plate Holder/Rim and a Revol Porcelain plate I purchased a couple of months ago from the TS and can't find another like it as usual. :(

The Pewter Rim is about 8 inches in width and the plate is about 7 inches in width. The plate has on the front of it "Marchand de Verres" and on the back of it "Revol france porcelaine depuis 1789". The Pewter is stamped "Etain" in one place and "Etain 92%" in another place.

Does anyone know how old this plate is (when it was made) and if it has any real collector value to it? I'm thinking it was made in the mid 1900's.

Thanks for any help!
Kevin

Revol Porcelaine is marketed in the US by Villeroy & Boch...who if my memory serves me well, are a German company, that specialize in dinnerware, and ceramic tiles and bathroom ware...
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Very similar. The birds in the e-bay plate are European Goldfinches.

Definitely not 1789. I'd say mid 1900s is probably about right.
