« on: August 23, 2012, 07:06:56 pm »
Picked this up a few days ago.

Spent the last few days searching for any info...can't find anything.

Stamped on bottom

NO. 108

ED JONES

1972

Appears to be copper with an unknown gold color applied/poured/dipped over it. Dosen't appear to be paint.

Weight is 1lb15.5 oz...almost 2lbs.

Its definitely copper underneath with  brass applied using a lost wax method,..over on this side of the pond...I,ve seen similar things like this...e.g....when apprentice,s were nearing the end of their time they were asked by their journeyman =Teacher,to make something as a reminder of their apprenticeship,..when I was finishing my time I had to make a wooden tool chest..which i still have after 42 years, this looks like something a plumber would have made...or perhaps a budding metal sculptor...and the date on the bottom is probably the date when he made it...
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

It's awesome and you should hang onto it for sentimental value.
