Whiskey jug lamps
« on: October 11, 2012, 06:12:54 pm »
I have two whiskey jug lamps on wood bases. One has a blue two on it other than that I took them apart and no marks on the bottoms. Upon turning one upside down a tubed aged paper fell out. The brochure is from Bushnell's Museum in Vernon, Vermont specializing in curiosities, oddities, and antiques. The museum from what I can find burnt to the ground in 1962. Can anyone help with the value on something like this and are they more valuable as lamps or jugs with a hole in the bottom. Both are in what I consider pretty great condition.

Please post photos of your lamps and also clear photos of the note hidden inside!!  This man was a wonderful character from what I have read!!!  I would contact the Brattleboro historical society!! Here's great reading on this man and his life!!! he sounds like one of us !!! I think part of the value will be in the history of these lamps!!  http://brattleborohistory.com/antiques-fossils/copper-weights-and-measures-1792.html
