« on: February 07, 2013, 08:04:50 am »
morning to all of you,

answers requested on anything anyone knows about pocket watches.  Market is saturated with them, yet every now and then a prize one comes thru.  I have tried to take clear pictures, please let me know your thoughts,,,,

Some people say that the most important parts of a watch are the face and mechanism - neither of which we can see  ;D

Also the mark on the case please

Made between 1894 and 1895.

I'm assuming the case is plated ? Can't see the marks on the case.

thanks for the response--the front case says dueber 14K special 2598646

inside has the number 1199641

has marking that looks like a snake on a pole

appreciate the dating of it

Yes, the serial number 1199641 dates it to 1894-95.

There should be an anchor mark for Dueber - raised or engraved ?

Need an image of this to help determine if gold filled / plated or gold - sounds like the former

Image of case outside would be nice too !

I am so glad you had me look further.

Yes, an anchor with a snake, it is not raised so embedded.  I have a further note to include  I found ever so slightly engraved, could not get a picture its so slightly done, of 1763 and more numbers...26692 is all I can make out

as these are so very slight I doubt I can get a clear picture--at least you made me find out more  so thanks

Even gold plated / filled are making a few hundred dollars on Ebay, depending on condition.
