Lot 187. It's not NO, it's ЛО for the assayer Lev Fedorovich Oleks. Moscow.

Cyrillic L looks like our N.

LOLOL  I have seen this happen for years Ipcress.  English oriented people don't take the time to get the Cyrillic lettering correct.  Imagine them trying to put the Ж and the Ѯ in!  LOL  (I have adopted children from Siberia and have made many trips to Russia!)

By the way, the ' smite ' thing is really naff.

I wonder who did that?  Haven't ever seen that done before on here!  Yuck!

It might have been a playful one?

Ipcress, are you British?  Canadian?

Just using the term "naff" is unique. Between you and Wullie (by the way the hope the Rascal is having a good move into the new home - thus his absence) we have more researching to do with your terminology!!!  :)

Glad you are on the forum!!!!!!!

Well,, I took the "naff" to mean unimportant and not worth worrying about !!  Correct me if I am wrong !!  Usually I just guess at these words by the tone of the post and the person doing it !!

British !

And naff meant cheap, which is not in keeping with this forum. I don't see what purpose it serves.
