Antique Brass Inkwell - Is red inkwell usually larger

My wife picked this Antique Solid BRASS Double INKWELL with Porcelain Liners on a Footed Tray by JH Depose. The problem I am having is understanding why the red inkwell is larger than the black inkwell. I would think the black one would be larger....unless this person was an editor???? Any thoughts other than my?

Mismatched liners if you ask me...one,s been either lost or broken and thats the only one they could find the smaller one is the odd one

as well as being of different sizes..they are of different configurations...i. e. the top of the larger one has a different shaped rim...

So bigwull what era are these from? 1800s? It is a beautiful piece...definitely hand hammered.

I,m not disputing the fact that it looks nice and it may even be genuine...I,ve seen similar ones with estimated values of between $300/400....but those ones were pristine..with no wobbly handles or mismatched liners...therefore. ..this one is probably worth a good bit less...but having said that..if you are prepared to live with one bowl being odd..then..go for it...but don,t go Banana,s...i,d say a round $40/50
