Take a second look,please
« on: March 02, 2013, 06:10:03 pm »
Posted this 4 or 5 months ago and no definite answer. Best answer I had was reproduction (not old), many on eBay. I've had many look at this and nobody is sure, very interesting is normally the response. For the last month or so it has been in local antique shop, hoping someone can identify it,no luck yet. I'm still a rookie, but looks old to me,hinges with flathead screws ,nailed brass decor. Sorry to post twice but this one nobody knows. Same pics as before , can't take anymore, shops closed.

I think it is oak, could be wrong though. Bigwull it would be nice if you could have this in your hands, hard to tell from pics . I could send it to you in my next shipment of Canadian horse

Bigwull ,does horse taste like beef? All kidding aside, from the pics do you think my item is old, authentic and where would you date it? Or is it just a piece of horse meat?

Nice box.  I agree it looked like it was for a whetstone...but rather deep.

When I was in Russia they sold ground  horse meat instead of cow and when it's all you can get...you try it.  It wasn't bad.  Made horse stroganoff.  Been snorting ever since!  :)

Don't think it's as old as that. They've tried to deceive by using an older hinge in the middle.
