Need help identifying antique lamp
« on: March 30, 2013, 12:59:16 pm »
Hey everybody,

I'm helping out a friend identify an antique lamp.  It's about 10" tall, cast iron but hollow in the middle.  No lamp shade or bulb.  Possibly from the 20s or 30s.  No makers mark, or any identification for that matter.  If it help she said it was purchased from the Palmer House in Chicago.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look at the bottom or around the base for a foundry mark !! Possibly bronze !!

Not cast iron, as Mart says, most likely bronze..a pic of the underside of the base will tell us, if it is, also look on the back of the figures ..and check for a little hole, approx 2/3mm dia,..also weight of figure,
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Here's a few more photos:

You can see the back is badly damaged, but you can also make out an "MO" on the back.  The rest of the letters were broken off...any famous lamp manufacturers that start with "MO"?

What about the top ? Is it a well, a socket ?

Anyway, looking at the lines / casting it's not going to be a well known make. This is similar
