Going to Grandma's Vintage Luggage Question
« on: June 11, 2013, 09:59:55 am »
I recently picked up a few of these from the 60's and 70's era and I cannot find any information on one. This one says Going to Grandpa's and shows a little girl on a boat fishing with her grandfather. Can anyone give me information or lead me in the right direction?

I will add that I contacted the man over the Going to Grandma's luggage in present day and he had no idea. I've also googled everything I could to see if there is a Going to Grandpa's set but I cannot find anything at all. I can only find a description on the Grandma's set that was made. Thanks for any help.

I didn't find anything either. Lots of "Going to Grandma's" suitcases, but none with your grandpa image.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Childs-Going-to-Grandmas-Suitcase-Hard-Train-Luggage-with-Hang-Tag-/121124882864?pt=Vintage_Antique_Toys_US&hash=item1c339b09b0

I believe yours is a bit earlier than 60`s,, more likely 50`s,, !!  The one above from ebay still has the hang tag and is similar !! You might try emailing the seller for company info !!  Not sure what info you are needing other than that !!
You might even check toy sites to find it !!

http://www.mercuryluggage.com/

This is the website of the people who manufacture these things. I made a few calls and sent a few emails and they had no idea. I'm mostly looking to see how rare this is and possibly want to sell it due to a raise in college tuition. I have the blue one with the boy and his train that says Going to Grandma's as well. I appreciate the help so far. I'll call Mercury Luggage and see if I can't get some old workers' numbers or contact info.
