Short Wave Radio
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:59:03 pm »
This is the second radio she has and it seems to be a little newer but I'm not sure.  Again, any input is greatly appreciated.  Thanks,

nice piece! looks like a 1930's or 1940's console style. The "A" channel is for your AM radio stations, "B" channel is police and amateur aviation, and "C" I believe takes you to over seas stations. I just picked up a late 30's early 40's Zenith Long Distance thats supposed to get Spain, Hungary, Japan, you name it, just havent figured that part out quite yet.

mine works great, at least the am radio part, havent really explored the rest. Its got a place to hook up an antenna so I may try to find one and see if I can find any foreign chatter  ;D

This looks like a Grunow 681. Mid 30's.

Correct; I believe Grunow started selling under the "General Household Utilities" name in about 1933.
