W R Midwinter had a few sidelines when they took over a few factories, think this was one of them. early mid 20th in a 19th century style.

Midwinter did much better with their contemp stuff.

OK thanks the name of maker helps. The gold squiggles underneath plates mean anything? Are the worth much?
They have been in the family since 1929 roughly.

What gold squiggles?  You mean the decoration on the plate?  Don't see any on the underside of what you show.

Your plates do show sign of age/crazing in glaze...which is normal.

How many pieces do you have?  Please state (like 8 cup, 8 saucers, 8 dessert plates, etc.)

The line of gold you can see above the writing (on picture 3), it's on all the plates.

6 cups, 6 saucers, 6 side plates, 1 larger planner (dinner size) and a milk jug.

Beautiful set by the way!!!!!You have a dessert set and serving platter here and those are dessert plates. There were used for tea time...so for sweets or sandwiches. Very stylish and "in" to have a set at the time these were made.

W R Midwinter LTD is the full name.  Here is the list on Replacements LTD of Midwinters "known" patterns.  Just open each one and hopefully you will find you pattern/value.  NOTE:  This is insured value and NOT what you would get as an individual selling.

Burslem is the town in England that these were made in.

The squiggle on the plates is an identifying mark for the factory.  It could be for the factory line, factory artist, etc.  Each factory has their own way of helping to track items.  Unfortunately, not all information is available about this for so many manufacturers over the years/centuries.
