antique metal statues conquistadors
« on: July 21, 2013, 02:40:20 am »
I have a pair of pot metal statues that I was searching online for information and found the same pair on this forum last September, posted by sreyomac. I realize this member has not been logged in for a couple of months, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything else about these. The only difference is mine have the swords and weapons that are missing in the earlier posts. I am going to attempt to upload my photos, this is my first time on this site. The statues are 15" tall including the black metal base. I haven't been able to get a read on the letters, but on the top of the statue base, next to the feet, there are or were some letters. One looked like it may have started with an "M" and the other possibly an "F". I have tried rubbing and tracing with tissue paper and lead pencil but have been unable to get enough to know what the word - initials - or whatever actually says. Thanks for any clues.

I vaguely remember those,,but yours look better !!!  If you have a cotton ball try a light sprinkling of flour or cornstarch over the words then tap the top with your finger lightly to remove whats on top and see if you can tell what the letters are !! Sometimes its easier to see if you take it outside and look at an angle,, must be a very light impression !!
