***PLEASE HELP*** Vintage Lamp Set
« on: August 17, 2013, 10:23:02 pm »
Can anyone tell me about these Rose Satin Poppy Lamps?
I have seen them online sold (not just listed) for anywhere from $100 to $600 each but never a set, and not in pink. The bottoms say L&L WMC E-40502 but online most called them "Fenton Lamps" or "Gone With The Wind Lamps" One of them has the number 5 the other has the number 1 stamped on the bottom, what does that number mean? Any info or help about these would be greatly appreciated Please and Thank you. ;D

I found this response on another web site.

Quote
Your lamp is made by Loevsky & Loevsky White Metal Castings from New Jersey. This company specializes in reproduction lamps and lighting fixtures. Some antique shops only sell these lamps for less than $50.

But the glass used for producing your lamps looks like it might be Fenton .... which, if so, would increase their value considerably.

How do i know if it is Fenton? What does the mark look like and where on the lamp would it be? Also how do i care for these Lamps? I have inherited them and they are really dusty. I wiped the glass with a wash cloth and a little warm water. I have heard and seen horror stories of people ruining their items by cleaning them wrong.

Most likely spelter or pot metal just colored to look like brass and antiqued !!  The middle part may be lightweight sheet brass but don`t clean it with anything other than water with maybe a drop of dish soap if needed !!
