Star Trek script.....info on this
« on: August 26, 2013, 09:23:34 pm »
Hi,
I know nothing about this. Another thrift store find.
I've searched the web and have read a bit about what a real script should be for Star Trek and what they sell for and there are many opinios. And I see some selling for alot that are obvious copies. And there are websites that have these available for download.

It seems to have age the name and date written on this by someone? Nancy Crowley? Seems excited to own this. Although I realize anyone can write anything at anytime on this.
Could this be real or an early cheap copy?
I like to learn about the things that I find.
Any opinions?

Thank you,
sandfisher

I'm not an expect by any means, but it does appear to be a real script. The problem with TV show scripts is that they made umpteen number of them...every week. What episode was it?

I sold a script once from the movie "The Black Hole" last year. I figured on $20. It ended up going for $300. You never know.
Take every price I say with a grain of salt...

Hi,

It looks 'original',  I just Googled Star Trek Journey to Babel

and found:

 IMDb
Star Trek: Season 2, Episode 10
Journey to Babel (17 Nov. 1967)

Which does not seem to fit with the date on the script 'received Sept 19th 1973' ..... Most odd ??? Unless it was received by someone other than the cast on that date/year ????

I found this webpage which not only gives a synopsis for that particular episode, but a lot of the dialogue as well, so you could compare. Could be the Title on your script was a working title not used in the final show?

http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Journey_to_Babel_%28episode%29

There are an awful lot of Star Trekkers (or whatever they are called) out there who would love an original script that may have been handled by Kirk, or Spock!!

It is Journey to Babel  season 2 episode 10.
the year Sept 19th 1973 might be when someone bought this script. ??

This sold on ebay and looks the same for the first page inside.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Trek-TOS-Script-Signed-D-C-Fontana-Journey-to-Babel-Spocks-Parents-/251312129853?nma=true&si=lzcL5LsFHWTC23Cmz9hsI9HirBc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557#ht_1018wt_882

And since they print alot of copies, maybe this is the real thing.  ;D
Maybe Nancy Crowley wrote on the inside cover "owner of the marvelous piece of literature is: Nancy Crowley " because it's real and she came to own it.

I think that is a very realistic sale price. I wouldn't be surprised if it achieved more, these Trekkies are in a breed of their own, or should that be 'species'?  ;)

You said it. Definitely Trekkies are a breed apart from others.
